I’ve been wanting to animate this for soooo long 🙂
I’ve got a few larger monsters too powerful to put in evolve trees, so I’d like to squeeze some into this next update as rare statues like the IRS guy. This has been at the top of my list since the very start 🙂

still not sure about timeframe for the next update sorry! i’m aiming for something pretty quick, but i don’t know enough to estimate times yet.
PS pretty sure gaben will be in next update- he’s all implemented, just needs final playtesting/tweaks

Pretty neat but I hope there are no legal issues with using his likeness.
yeah we’ve always been so tiny and unnoticed we don’t really have to worry about stuff like that 🙂 but seeing this get reposted on gaming blogs does make me nervous! Gabe seems chilled out about stuff, but who knows the reasons a big company might find to shut it down!

As beautifully animated as it is, I’m very concerned that, like the IRS man, mega-Gaben’s presence will heavily detract from the atmosphere of the game and damage immersion by being so out of place.
Neither are even demonic or medieval, and just don’t fit the game’s theme.
Would you guys at least consider making them only available ingame if a cheat code is entered? Like, say, the using a hidden god also enables the IRS and mega-Gaben statues?
yep i very much see your point- the consistent tone is something i’ve been very serious about for crawl, and with the silly joke gods i was able to hide them all behind special codes, making it so you can have silly ones but you have to specifically “opt in” or else the tone is unbroken which i think is ideal!
i’ll have a think and see if there is some equivalent for the gag statue monsters 🙂
I’m really happy about this idea because it got you a lot of coverage, I’m a huge fan of Crawl and I wish you all the success you deserve for this game, I have over 40 hours so far! haha
But I agree with Crawl Fan… after you unlock him, maybe it’d be possible to have an enable/disable feature so that I can stay immersed in the game…? because if you just limit it to a special marked room I’m pretty sure the bots will just enter like it’s another room, haha… dunno.

A custom room could be nice? Like there is a small chance of that room being generated and it has a special door. This room would lead to nowhere else but you can win a great reward if you beat it ? Well gaben is awesome anyway^^
cheers- yeah i’ve actually been considering making a special room for him, and potentially designing smaller support characters to be statues alongside him 🙂

I love this. It’s so silly and OP and wonderful and I’m so glad I just stumbled upon this game on the youtubes. Thanks for giving loads of people something to look forward to and see change along with our ideas
